| The Glaucoma Society of India has been in existence for the past 16-years. The successive office bearers have improved the activities of the Society and currently we have a membership of 410 professionals.
The major hurdle to prevention of glaucoma blindness is undiagnosed glaucoma. While screening for glaucoma in the population is a concept that may appeal to the NGOs, the need of the hour is case detection. There have been many advances in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. With an aim to bring the knowledge of these advances to as many Ophthalmologists as possible, the GSI is embarking on the Glaucoma India Education Program (GIEP).
