A Report on World Glaucoma Day

The Glaucoma Society of India has been in existence for the past 16-years. The successive office bearers have improved the activities of the Society and currently we have a membership of 410 professionals.

The major hurdle to prevention of glaucoma blindness is undiagnosed glaucoma. While screening for glaucoma in the population is a concept that may appeal to the NGOs, the need of the hour is case detection. There have been many advances in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. With an aim to bring the knowledge of these advances to as many Ophthalmologists as possible, the GSI is embarking on the Glaucoma India Education Program (GIEP).

Dear Members,

Greetings from the Office of Glaucoma Society of India.

I am sure that many of you are planning to conduct different events on the eve of the first World Glaucoma Day on March 6, 2008.  It is always better to have a compiled report of the activities in India.  I request you all to post a report to
gsichennai07@gmail.com on your activities.  Once we receive the reports from you all, we will compile and upload it in the website and make it available for all the members.

Regards,

Vijaya
President
